Biography

Ms. Lauriston is a highly-skilled trial lawyer with extensive experience in the areas of personal injury, family law, and criminal defense.

In 2006, Ms. Lauriston began honing her legal skills and her reputation as a skillful attorney, while working as an Assistant State Attorney with the Broward State Attorney’s Office, widely regarded as one of the toughest prosecuting attorneys’ offices in the State of Florida. In that capacity, Ms. Lauriston served in various divisions and prosecuted over a thousand cases, ranging from traffic criminal infractions to serious felonies, including burglary and robbery, DUIs, theft and fraud charges, drug possession, prostitution, and battery. In 2009, Ms. Lauriston left the Broward State Attorney’s office and co-founded Lauriston Law Firm, LLC, and thereafter founded Lauriston and Smart Law Firm, LLC,  where she now represents clients in family, injury and criminal matters.

Throughout her career, Ms. Lauriston has earned and continues to earn the respect of her colleagues and of her clients, as she litigates numerous complex criminal and civil cases, particularly in matters that may pose significant financial risks, including breach of contract, and complex business litigation matters. Ms. Lauriston has successfully defended individuals against the suspension of their professional nursing licenses. Ms. Lauriston has negotiated and recouped numerous settlements in both civil and personal injury actions on behalf of her clients. Additionally, Ms. Lauriston serves as of counsel to a prominent national law firm, where she handles complex commercial matters as well as foreclosure and collections law. Ms. Lauriston also serves as a Qualified Intermediary in matters involving 1031 exchanges.

Ms. Lauriston is equally passionate about family law, where she has acquired extensive experience litigating cases involving dissolution of marriage, child support, alimony, equitable distribution of property and time-sharing. Further, she has assisted many families in obtaining their green card, Temporary Protected Status, and/or citizenship, and successfully appealed to the Board of Immigration Appeals on behalf of her clients.

Ms. Lauriston is actively involved in various local, state, and national bar associations, and her community. Ms. Lauriston dedicates her time to the community by volunteering with Miami Rescue Mission where she feeds the homeless, volunteers with legal aid, aids with citizenship drives, mentors incoming law students and entry-level attorneys, raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, speaks with and empowers children in public schools, and provides pro bono legal services to veteran and military families through the Mission United Veterans Pro Bono Project.
